どこ・どちら (doko / dochira) — where / which way (polite)

Asking "where?" — plain どこ and polite どちら.

Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)

N
どこ/どちら where
ですか

Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

To ask about a place, use どこ (where): えきはどこですか (eki wa doko desu ka) = "Where is the station?" When you want to be more polite or formal, use どちら, which also means "which way": エレベーターはどちらですか。 Both ask about a place; どちら sounds more polite, so it fits shops and offices.
