Nは ばしょです (N wa basho desu) — N is at / in [place]
A simple way to say someone or something is at a place, using です.

To say where a person or thing is, you can say "N は 〈place〉 です." Here です means "is (at)." Example: 田中さんは日本です (tanaka-san wa nihon desu) = "Tanaka is in Japan." The place can also be ここ／そこ／あそこ: 先生はあそこです。 This is the easy, polite way; later you'll also learn 「〜にいます／あります」.
