Nは ばしょです (N wa basho desu) — N is at / in [place]
A simple way to say someone or something is at a place, using です.

Meaning
- The easy way to say where someone or something is: person／thing + は + place + です.
- Here です does not mean "is (identity)" but "is at / is located": 田中さんは日本です (Mr. Tanaka is in Japan), 先生は学校です (The teacher is at school).
How to attach
ここ／そこ／あそこ can stand in for the place: キティさんはうちです (Kitty is at home).
Watch out
- に is not used in this pattern (学校にです ❌).
- に arrives later with 「〜にいます／あります」in Lesson 10.
