〜に〜をあげます (~ ni ~ o agemasu) — give ~ to ~

The pattern for giving something to someone.

Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

To give something to someone, use 「〜に〜をあげます」. Mark the receiver with に (to), the thing given with を, then あげます (give). Example: ともだちに花をあげます (tomodachi ni hana o agemasu) = "I give a flower to my friend." あげます means "I (or someone on my side) give to another" — it is not used for receiving.

Examples (उदाहरणहरू)

ともだちあげます

私はともだちに花をあげます。

watashi wa tomodachi ni hana o agemasu.

I give a flower to my friend.

田中さんに本をあげました。

tanaka-san ni hon o agemashita.

I gave a book to Tanaka.

母にプレゼントをあげます。

haha ni purezento o agemasu.

I give a present to my mother.
