🔒
— fill the blank.
💡 Hint:Hearing what was said, the speaker gives a decision.
それなら = 'in that case', a decision based on what was heard. それなのに is followed by a complaint, それでも by a firm stance, それが by the unexpected.
— fill the blank.
💡 Hint:What follows is a reason ending in 〜んです.
というのは = 'the reason is': result first, reason (〜んです) after. ということは is followed by a conclusion you draw, not a reason.
(manager's notice) — fill the blank.
💡 Hint:A reason before, a formal result after.
したがって = 'therefore', the formal result after a reason (stiff だから). すなわち only renames the same thing; it cannot give a result.
— fill the blank.
💡 Hint:One bad thing piled on another (note も).
おまけに = 'on top of that', piling up bad things (spoken). ちなみに adds light side information, not another complaint; もっとも adds an exception.
Which sentence is unnatural?
💡 Hint:What can すなわち do, and what can it not?
すなわち only restates the same thing under another name; it cannot draw a conclusion like 'lost wallet → no money' — that needs つまり.
Which sentence is unnatural?
💡 Hint:What setting does それはそうと belong to?
それはそうと is casual talk among friends and colleagues; in the president's speech it sounds flippant — さて is needed there.
— fill the blank.
💡 Hint:Not what the asker expects — an apologetic reply.
それが introduces 'sorry, not as you expected'. それなら is followed by a decision, so it cannot open the reply 'not yet'.
At a meeting you have said 「今日の会議はこれで終わります。」 and now open the topic of next month's shifts — which word?
💡 Hint:Formal setting, closing one part and opening the next.
さて = 'now then', opening a new topic after closing one in a formal setting. なお only tacks extra information onto what was said; it does not open a new topic.
